Advanced Technology for Minimally Invasive Treatment
One of the ways we ensure your comfort is by using state-of-the-art technology for diagnostics and procedures. Our advanced equipment and techniques make your treatment minimally invasive and efficient.
3D imaging for precise diagnosis
Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett use 3D digital imaging technology to provide detailed, accurate views of all the structures related to your oral health.
Our state-of-the-art cone beam 3D CT scanner produces high-resolution, 360-degree views of your teeth, jawbone and surrounding areas. These images can be examined from any angle and magnified as desired. With digital imaging, Dr. Levine can evaluate your oral health without the need for invasive procedures. He also uses this information for precise treatment planning.
Computer-guided implant placement
Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett use 3D software to plan accurate, efficient and minimally invasive implant treatment. First, he closely inspects the 3D images to determine which areas of bone in your jaw have the highest volume and density. This is important, as implants need a certain amount of bone support to be stable. The doctor then maps out the exact position, angle and placement depth for each implant, and plan any needed bone grafting.
When placing multiple implants, Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett use special software to prepare a surgical guide. A surgical guide is a template that fits over the dental arch. It marks the exact placement positions and angles of the implants. Use of a surgical guide makes implant treatment efficient and accurate.
Dental lasers for gentle gum and bone treatment
Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett use dental lasers in many periodontal procedures. Lasers often remove the need for scalpels and other invasive instruments. Lasers can be used to eliminate bacterial infections and to gently remove soft tissue and bone, when needed.
He also uses a laser to perform gentle low-level laser therapy at the conclusion of many types of treatment. It promotes the healing of treated tissues and reduces postoperative swelling and discomfort.
Ultrasonic surgery
When bone modification is needed, Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett use a minimally invasive surgical device that employs tiny vibrations at an ultrasonic frequency. These micro-vibrations let him sculpt bone without affecting any of the surrounding soft tissues. Ultrasonic surgery is accurate and much less invasive than bone surgery using traditional instruments.
Nontraumatic extractions
Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett delicately disconnect a tooth from the surrounding ligaments and bone using a series of specialized instruments. He then gently removes it straight up out of the tooth socket. Extractions performed this way are comfortable, minimally invasive and cause little to no damage to the gum and bone tissues.
Virtually painless injections with the DentalVibe®
For gentle injections, our practice uses the DentalVibe, a handheld device with two small vibrating arms that are placed over the gums. Small, gentle vibrations block any sensation of the injection and make the experience virtually painless.
IV Sedation
For patients who experience heavy anxiety, or for long procedures, IV sedation is available. Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett can let you know if sedation would be appropriate for your treatment.
