Your New Patient Exam
Dr. Levine will give you a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation using the latest digital imaging technology. Advanced digital imaging allows him to be very accurate in his evaluation and gives him the ability to plan every aspect of your treatment for optimum results.
Digital X-rays
Your exam starts with full digital X-rays. Our digital X-ray system emits 80 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays and produces highly detailed images that are available in seconds. Digital X-rays are much clearer than film X-rays, and the doctor can magnify them as needed for closer inspection.
Panoramic X-ray
Depending on the circumstances, we may also take a digital panoramic X-ray for an overview of your entire mouth. Panoramic X-rays provide a two-dimensional display of all the teeth and supporting jawbone in one large image, and give Dr. Levine a more comprehensive view of a patient’s oral condition. Panoramic X-rays also show features that are not visible in limited X-rays.
Cone beam 3D CT scan
When needed, we will use our state-of-the-art cone beam 3D CT scanner to obtain comprehensive 360-degree views of your teeth, jaws and surrounding structures. These images can be viewed from any angle and magnified as desired.
3D imaging allows Dr. Levine to thoroughly and accurately diagnose your oral health without having to use invasive methods. It also provides him with the detailed information he needs to precisely plan advanced procedures such as dental implant placement and bone grafting.
Digital photos of your teeth, gums and smile
We take a full set of intraoral and extraoral digital photos of your teeth, gums, bite and smile for treatment planning and for your patient records.
Intraoral camera images show details about the state of your teeth and gums that are not visible on X-rays. Extraoral pictures clearly show your bite relationship and smile, and any irregularities in your bite alignment.
Comprehensive oral exam
Dr. Levine will conduct a very thorough and comprehensive oral examination. He will inspect your teeth and gums and check your bite alignment and jaw joints. He will also probe the depth of the gum pockets around each tooth to determine the presence and extent of any gum disease, and will do a manual and visual inspection of your head, neck and mouth to check for signs of oral cancer. If you are wearing dentures, he will check their fit, bite alignment and comfort as well.
We coordinate with your physician as needed
Sometimes significant medical issues can influence the procedures we would use to address your concerns. If you have any medical condition that might influence your dental care, or are taking medications prescribed by your physician for certain problems, we will contact your physician and confer with them about the best way to provide you the periodontal care you need.
Findings and treatment plan
After the examination, Dr. Levine will present his findings in detail and in easy-to-understand terms, so you have a clear understanding of your oral health. He will explain your treatment options and take the time answer any questions you may have to your full satisfaction.
