Laser Treatment for Tongue-Tied
or Lip-Tied Babies
Quick, Simple Laser Procedure To Help Babies Nurse
Babies can have trouble nursing when a fold of tissue in their mouth, called a frenum, is too strong or too short and restricts the movement of their tongue or lips. Babies with this condition are said to be tongue-tied or lip-tied. Dr. Levine and Dr. Moffett are very experienced in correcting this situation. He uses a noninvasive dental laser to remove the excess tissue during a simple, gentle and fast procedure. Infants as young as two days old can receive this treatment.
The laser quickly and gently corrects the overly restrictive frenum and restores free movement of the tongue or lip for proper feeding. Our dentists have helped thousands of babies using this technique.

Benefits of Tongue-Tie and Lip-Tie Treatment
Releasing a lip-tie or tongue-tie not only frees up your baby’s ability to nurse properly and comfortably, it will also prevent many other difficulties as your child grows up:
- Your child’s ability to eat solid foods and chew properly will not be restricted.
- Speech impediments can occur as a result of being tongue- or lip-tied. Getting an overly restrictive frenum corrected at a young age can prevent such difficulties later in life.
- When the tongue is not properly pressing against the palate, the upper jaw can become underdeveloped. This often results in nonoptimum dental conditions that can require extensive orthodontic treatment to correct. Tongue-tie treatment at an early age can prevent such complications later on.
- It will be easier for your child to properly maintain their dental health.

Patient Testimonial
“After the laser procedure she turned into a whole new baby.”
“Dr. Levine and his staff were life savers for our three-month old. She was tongue- and lip-tied, taking over an hour to nurse and extremely fussy the rest of the time. After the laser procedure she turned into a whole new baby. Her temperament has made a complete 180, and she is happy and nursing efficiently.
“The staff and doctor made my husband and I, first-time parents, completely comfortable, providing us with all the information needed, and they were very patient with all our questions and concerns. They made us feel at ease during our visit, and we felt assured knowing they were on call at all times.
“Dr. Levine personally called the night after the procedure just to check on our little one. Not many doctors follow up or are willing to hand out their personal cell numbers! A huge ‘Thank you!’ to Dr. Levine and his wonderful staff for taking great care of our baby!”
